In order to obtain the nectar that gives poetry and wisdom, Odin disguises himself as Beorse and enters the realm of the giant Suttons. He pretends to work for Sutton's farmer and wins the trust of Sutton's daughter, Gunrod. Using cunning and clever tactics, Baeles succeeds in tricking Gunrod into giving up the honey wine and drinking all of it. Afterwards, Baelor turned into an eagle and flew back to Asgard to bring the nectar to the gods and humans. During his escape, he spewed out some of the nectar, which became the inspiration for secular poetry, while the rest was preserved in Asgard for the use of the gods. The story of Baelor exemplifies the wisdom and cunning of Odin in Norse mythology, and his determination to pursue knowledge and power at all costs.
