The hero of the Old English epic, his story is a legend of strength and sacrifice. He traveled across the sea to help the Danes fight the monster Grendel, and after a fierce battle, Beowulf used his superhuman strength and courage to defeat the monster. Years later, when a dragon threatened his country, Beowulf went on the warpath again, and though he was ultimately sacrificed, his name and story became a symbol of courage and heroism.
